Requests UNAIDS to ensure that the new Unified Budget and Accountability Framework indicators and budgetary allocations in relation to the UNAIDS Outcome Area on meeting the needs of women and girls are in line with the Agenda for Accelerated Country Action for Women and Girls
Requests UNAIDS to identify, by the date of the UN High Level Meeting in 2011, the projected resources needed for further country roll-out of the UNAIDS Agenda for Women and Girls in a representative set of countries
UNAIDS will report back on the progress of the agenda and implementation at country level. This agenda item will also include recommendations and decision points on sexual and reproductive health integration with HIV, which was the thematic session at the last board meeting.
The UNAIDS Agenda for Accelerated Country Action for Women, Girls, Gender Equality and HIV contains 26 strategic actions, to be adapted and implemented at the country level and driven mainly through the United Nations Joint Teams on AIDS, in close collaboration with civil society and government partners.UNAIDS and UNIFEM has now developed a draft strategy and a roadmap for the implementation and is available for YOUR input.
UNAIDS will be launching an operational plan for women, girls, gender equality and HIV at a high-level event during the 54th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York. The event will bring together key leaders from governments from the North and South, civil society and United Nations Organisations.
Strongly endorses the process of the Global Task Force on Women and Girls, Gender Equality and HIV; welcomes the Operational plan; supports the continued leadership of the Executive Director; and, requests UNAIDS to begin the immediate implementation of the Operational Plan including through the UN joint country teams, in close collaboration with government and country partners, especially womens’ organizations and networks of people living with HIV, and report regularly on progress to the Programme Coordinating Board to enhance monitoring and evaluation of results, including through a comprehensive report to the 27th meeting of the Board
Welcomes the promulgation of the “UNAIDS Action Framework: Universal Access for Men who have Sex with Men and Transgender People”, and the follow-up action that is already underway, and urges UNAIDS and other partners to support further action, particularly on decriminalization as part of the agreed Unified Budget and Workplan priorities, and also in other areas of policy and practice both inside and beyond the health sector
Takes note with appreciation of the update on progress by UNAIDS in assisting countries to accelerate action on women, girls and gender equality within the context of AIDS, including the establishment of an inter-agency strategy (UNAIDS Action Framework) to address HIV and women and girls in line with the strategy undertaken with lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender
