The PCB decided to create an open-ended working group on UNAIDS governance, comprised of members and observers of the PCB, to address the governance related issues of UNAIDS, including the mandate, conclusions and recommendations of the Final Report of the Five Year Evaluation of UNAIDS. Following the recommendation of the PCB Chair, Senegal and Switzerland were appointed as Co-chairs of the working group. The working group will prepare a report for the PCB that will include a set of governance-related recommendations designed to facilitate the achievement of the UNAIDS mandate through more effective and efficient governance. This report will be submitted to the PCB for its consideration at its next regular meeting. The recommendations of this report should address UNAIDS governance-related issues including:
· roles, responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities;
· PCB membership ;
· PCB methods of work;
· relationships with other governing bodies, especially those of the Cosponsors; and
· relationships between the CCO and the Secretariat.
The working methods of the working group will be elaborated by the co-chairs in consultation with working group members. The working group will be supported by a secretariat provided by the UNAIDS Secretariat which will include administrative, management and technical support.
