The Global Fund Partnership Forum recently took place in Sao Paolo, Brazil, gathering more than 300 participants from around the world to give input for the development of the Global Fund’s 2012-2016 strategy. In preparation for the Partnership Forum, B-Change and the MSMGF conducted a small online survey to better understand MSM and transgender involvement and understanding regarding the Global Fund, including experiences and opinions of the Global Fund’s recently-introduced strategy on sexual orientation and gender identity. Results of the survey can be found in the following presentation:
The results of the survey were presented to MSM advocates and allies during an MSM strategy session at the start of the Partnership Forum, and they were used to inform advocacy efforts throughout the Forum’s full week of activities and deliberations. A more complete description of key highlights concerning MSM and transgender people at the Partnership Forum can be found in the following report:
Finally, during the course of the week, the Parliamentarians in attendance issued a declaration calling on all governments to take a number of steps to ensure access to medicines and other treatments.
The Global Fund is currently in the process of producing a formal evaluation from the Partnership Forum, and the Partnership Forum Steering Committee plans to report on the Forum’s outcomes and recommendations early next month.
