The UNAIDS Bureau met on January 27th to discuss the establishment of the PCB Task Force on Governance, the 26th thematic session on Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and the agenda for the 26th PCB Meeting.
The Bureau was tasked with the establishment of the PCB Task Force at the 25th PCB Meeting (Decision 4.25). The Task Force will analyze the UNAIDS evaluation findings, recommendations, management response and discussions in the UNAIDS Board. They will also support UNAIDS in the development of a prioritized plan for follow up to the UNAIDS Second Independent Evaluation (SIE).
The Bureau discussed the thematic session which will be focused on linking SRH services with HIV and AIDS interventions, though will also address issues related to sexual minorities, human rights and non-discrimination. The working group on the thematic session is in process of being formed and will have NGO representation. The working group will work on the development of the thematic session including the breakout sessions and the possibility of including high level speakers.
The agenda of the upcoming PCB meeting was also discussed and is expected to include an agenda item on non-discrimination, Men Who Have Sex with Men and a report back on the implementation of the operational plan for the UNAIDS Action Framework: addressing women, girls, gender equality and HIV. The agenda is set to be finalized at the next Bureau meeting on the 26th of February.
